Mildred Spaulding Kozsuch Slide Collection

The photos below are scanned images of 67 color photographic slides taken and compiled by Mildred Kozsuch of various historic houses, structures, and places in Washington County, Tennessee.  The slides are undated, but were probably taken in the 1980’s.
Mildred Spaulding Kozsuch was an important local historian and genealogist in Washington County for many years. During that time, she served as County Historian, chair of the Public Records Commission, and as a founder and officer in several organizations, including the Watauga Association of Genealogists, Washington County Historical Association, and the Jonesborough Genealogical Society. She was the recipient of the East Tennessee Historical Society’s Ramsey Award for Lifetime Achievement and of the WCHA’s Samuel Cole Williams Award. She was an early leader in the effort to establish the Washington County Archives. The department’s public reading room is named in her honor. She passed away on June 8, 2017 at the age of 88.
The collection was donated by Mildred Kozsuch’s son Sandhi Kozsuch, of Dunwoody, Georgia, on April 12, 2019.
