Friends of the Washington County Archives

We are very fortunate to have a very active, very helpful Friends of the Archives group!  In fact, the Friends of the Archives formed before we even had an archives building or an archivist!  The group has a yearly meeting in which they have a guest speaker and archivist Ned Irwin gives an update of the past year’s activities.

Many members of the FoA are also volunteers in the archives and have been an incredible support to the archives staff.  They assist in processing records, sorting, filing and typing.  We’re very thankful for the organization and encourage you to join!

Friends of the Washington County Tennessee Archives was organized as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization:

  • To SUPPORT the development of an outstanding archives by working with the County Records Commission.

  • To PROMOTE the Washington County Tennessee Archives by enhancing public awareness.

  • To INSTRUCT and train in the preservation and research use of the historical documents of Washington County Tennessee.

  • To help the Washington County Tennessee Archives with supplemental funds.

Check out the Friends of the Washington County Archives on Facebook.  Here we post unique and unusual items that we find in the archives, as well as keep you updated on the day-to-day activities.
